The sector project ‘Green innovation centres for the agriculture and food sector’ is one of the projects implemented by GIZ as part of the special initiative One World – No Hunger by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to assist selected countries in boosting production and income on a sustainable basis. In Benin, the programme is promoting small and medium-sized farming enterprises. The Fédération des Unions des Producteurs du Bénin (FUPRO), the national federation of producers' unions in Benin, plays a key strategic role in this context. FUPRO represents a large network of member organisations from various agricultural sectors (including maize, soya and rice).
The federation aims to strengthen its members’ capabilities by providing targeted training on production and processing methods and on marketing strategies for agricultural produce. In addition, FUPRO provides access to selected seed and is a key player in lobbying at national level. The federation cooperates closely with the Association Nationale des Femmes Agricultrices du Benin (ANaF), the national association of women farmers.
Your role
• You will assist FUPRO in coordinating its activities more effectively in order to enhance its public relations with national and international partners and to promote the federation's position in the socio-political context
• In consultation with GIZ's various programme components, particularly those of the project ‘Green innovation centres for the agriculture and food sector’ (ProCIVA), you will collaborate with FUPRO to develop a plan of action to structure and meet the requirements made of the federation by the member organisations
• You will have direct contact with the local actors and will implement the programmes included in the plan of action
Your profile
Your qualifications
• Vocational/university qualifications in business administration, organisational development, agriculture
• At least two years of relevant professional experience
• A good command of written and spoken French
• A high level of intercultural communication and consulting skills
You also have the following skills
• Expertise in the field of organisational development for farming enterprises
• A knowledge of monitoring and evaluation
• Experience in the adult education sector would be an Advantage.
