Chemonics seeks a chief of party for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded health initiative to reduce preventable deaths among vulnerable populations by increasing the use of high-impact health services and the practice of healthy behaviors at the community level across Benin. This activity emphasizes strengthening key health systems, building strategic partnerships to scale up the private sector network, and enhancing the quality of health services and access to them to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable Beninese. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of individuals around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Provide overall leadership, management, and technical direction to the project
Serve as key liaison between USAID, the government of Benin, activity stakeholders, and counterparts in the public and private sectors
Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in public health, business administration, social sciences, or a related field
Experience as chief of party on a donor-funded project in Benin or western Africa preferred
Minimum of 10 years of relevant development experience designing, implementing, and managing USAID or other donor-funded health programs
Proven success managing community-level health-systems strengthening or private sector engagement projects
Experience working closely with multidisciplinary teams in developing countries
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to articulate a strategic vision
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant technologies
Experience in monitoring and evaluation, adaptive management, and knowledge sharing
Record of building the capacity of local stakeholders
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in French and English required
